Abstract

This study aimed to validate the Psychologically Rich Life Questionnaire (PRLQ; Oishi et al., 2019) among Korean adults participating in leisure and exercise activities. Psychologically rich life (PRL) has been proposed as a third dimension of well-being that complements hedonic and eudaimonic well-being; however, empirical research in non-Western cultures and exercise contexts remains limited. Using data from adults with exercise experience, confirmatory factor analysis supported the single-factor structure of the Korean PRLQ, demonstrating satisfactory reliability and validity. PRL was positively associated with flourishing and exercise participation intention, confirming its theoretical relevance and concurrent validity. These findings suggest that the PRLQ is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing psychological richness in Korean samples. The study further highlights the potential of exercise participation as an environment in which individuals can experience psychological richness through diversity, emotional engagement, and perspective change.
