Abstract

This study examined the growth experienced by physical education majors who participated in sports talent donation activities. In-depth interviews were conducted with eight students from the Department of Sports Science at S University approximately two years after their participation in the YOUNG MOVERS program. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that the participants experienced four areas of growth. First, participants achieved professional growth by applying their major knowledge in the field and participating in all stages of program operation. Second, they experienced psychological growth by overcoming the initial burden of instructional activities and accumulating successful experiences. Third, they demonstrated social growth by building social and human capital through interactions with peers and institutional practitioners, and recognizing the social value of sport. Fourth, they achieved career growth by identifying their aptitude through teaching experiences with children and expanding their career pathways through networks. This study provides a qualitative understanding of the professional, psychological, social, and career growth of physical education majors through their participation in sports talent donation activities. Based on these findings, this study proposes strategies for the systematic operation of university sports talent donation programs.
